EAD Customs document

When exporting a vehicle to a country outside the European Union, the exporter needs to go through a Declaration of Export (aangifte ten uitvoer) procedure at the customs authority and an EAD Customs Document needs to be drawn up. In the following situations, you will at any rate need an EAD:

  • The VAT 0% rate needs to be established;
  • A EUR.1 Certificate is required;
  • An EUR.1 invoice declaration is required;
  • The vehicle needs to be shipped.

Procedure for submitting an export declaration
You can order a number of servicepoints to handle the Declaration of Export for you and to produce an EAD Customs Document. You will be required to bring along the following items:

  • The vehicle;
  • The invoice addressed to the foreign buyer residing outside the EU;
  • The registration document of the vehicle in question;
  • Valid proof of identity (of the buyer).

VWE will subsequently take care of the export declaration procedure and will produce the EAD document, possibly in combination with the export declaration, the export registration document, the export number plates, the European Green Card, the EUR.1 Invoice Declaration and/or the Declaration of type-approval data. Generally speaking, the waiting time for the Declaration of Export is approximately 30 minutes. The waiting time is only extended in cases where Customs decides to carry out a random check.

Where can I obtain this document?
The EAD Customs document can be obtained from the VWE servicepoints.
